Speaker 1:

tekrar. Hmm Re herb tex Verne. However, how are you, man, doing good man? How are you Doing great man? I'm going to tell you this dude, you're everybody's favorite guest man Outside of Dan the man, you're everybody's favorite bullfighter.

Speaker 2:

I appreciate it. I'm glad to hear that.

Speaker 1:

So it's great to see you, it's great to have you on. I'm a little under the weather. This chest cold, don't know what's going on. I should get it checked out. But, man, I got to give you and your wife a shout out for putting up with me on episode 205. My buddy, dan, the man you know, shout out to him. We get together and it's like the Southeast boys, it's just me and him and we just get together and just shoot it. I think we shot it a little too far that day and we recorded it.

Speaker 2:

It was great. We enjoyed it.

Speaker 1:

So just hearing the feedback from you and your wife, man, it was it made my day, but it was kind of embarrassing. So I apologize, but shout out to the wife and you, man for putting up with me and Dan. Just you know just shooting it, so appreciate you, man.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, sir, no problem man, we enjoyed it. Like I said it was, it was funny man, we really enjoyed it. We were listening to it that morning and then we're like, well, since we're in and out of the vehicle going in the stores, I said why don't we just listen to it on the way to Tampa? So you're like, all right, that'd be fine, cause it was like a five and a half hour drive for us. So I was like that'd be great, so we listened to it on the way to Tampa. I mean, we were cracking up, we loved it. We enjoyed it.

Speaker 1:

I appreciate it, man. And, like I said, dude, I love your company, love the people that you you know, work with and around and everything else and do anything for you guys to support you. So just a little embarrassed because we were pretty tanked at the end and it's not like me to do that, especially on my own show. But, I mean, how, how often do you hear someone, especially someone who's not sponsored, go 200 something episodes, you know. So I was like oh, that's awesome.

Speaker 2:

We really enjoy your podcast. We love listening to it, so we're glad you keep trucking, man. We enjoy it.

Speaker 1:

Well, thanks, man. And speaking of keep trucking, I've been getting some feedback from Sterling Drake. You've been listening to his music.

Speaker 2:

We, we, we listened to a couple of his songs on the way down to Tampa. Whenever you told me about him, we'll listen to a couple of his songs, so we enjoyed it. Yep, that's a kind of music that we like to listen to.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, man, the old school, you know there's the honky tonk, just great stuff. Well, he, he sent me a couple signed albums and everything else and will be sending me another signed album of his latest, his new album that's, that came out today. Actually, it's live from the station in. If you haven't heard that album, it's an EP, so it's like four or five or six songs. He has his rendition of Seminole win and do did spot on so oh yeah, I'll have to listen to the man.

Speaker 2:

That would be awesome.

Speaker 1:

If you like old John Anderson back in the day, you'll like Sterling Drake's rendition of Seminole win.

Speaker 2:

So yeah, man, that'd be great.

Speaker 1:

Still cuts the meaning behind that album, still cuts man or that song. So, but, man, sure enough about that. Enough of the shout outs. I just can't shout you out enough, man, you and your wife. So, but, uh, how are things been with you, man?

Speaker 2:

Man, things have been great. Um, a lot of doors opening up for next year season. Um, I'm already booked. I think I got one weekend out of the month of January that I'm not booked. I already got next year already started up, man, and it's been a blessing for sure, and we're excited for next year's season. Just things just opening up left and right, man, we're excited, and things have been great. Got a rodeo this weekend. I got a. Like I said before we started on this, it was a rodeo Bible camp that my uncle, damon Wilson, is throwing on Tomorrow and Sunday. So we're going to buck some bulls out there too. So it's going to be fun.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, why do you think you're getting busier man?

Speaker 2:

Well, I honestly I don't know man, I feel like I'm, you know, I'm working my butt off for it and I feel like that's. That's the reason why, you know, just work my butt off for it this year and just trying to push the be one of the best man and I'm pushing, I'm pushing hard for it and I'm not. I'm not the greatest at all and I don't claim to be anything like that. I make a lot of mistakes still here and there, and you know, just learn from and keep going.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, well, you do put in the work, man, I'll say that. But you know you, you're very humble, you are, and I tell people about you. You're like dude, you're just a, you know a guy that's working hard. I'm like man, this guy is a big name down there. Man Don't listen to a word. Trevor says. You know, but not putting in the work does pay off, dude, and I see, I see your footage, I see what you do and, dude, just keep doing what you're doing and I think, that's the number one reason why you're you're busy year round now.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

So keep doing it, man, and thank goodness you do have a wife and kids who understand and love what dad does.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, they do. They put up with a lot. Now I'll tell you that the kids and the wife are going to come with me to this one this weekend, tonight at least. It's only an hour away from the house, so they're able to trough along with me and haul up in the car and drive an hour and half away and get home late at night. So how's the weather down there, right?

Speaker 1:

now.

Speaker 2:

Man, it's slight winds and then it's kind of cloudy Like it looks like it's about to rain, but it ain't gonna rain today. It might get some drizzle later on in the weekend, but other than that it feels good out here.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, well, you got a t-shirt on. If I went outside with the t-shirt on, I'd be getting colder, you know, no, chest cold, it would be all up here. So, yeah, sorry, okay, well, make sure you stay warm when that sun does go down. So you wanted to be on today. Well, I've always wanted you on, right, yes, sir. But you wanted to be on and you wanted to share something. What is it that you wanted to share, man? It sounded interesting. It sounded something that you're passionate about, your family's passionate about, and I want to hear it, man, since you just gave me a little glimpse of it on Instagram. So, shoot.

Speaker 2:

So really back in the day we used to have a lot of bucking bulls and stuff, did a lot of junior deals, maybe some high school stuff, and it was something that we really loved doing. It was hard work keeping up with the bulls and stuff, keeping them fed, making sure they stay in and stuff and don't run around in the road and stuff like that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

But my family owns quite a bit of property. We got about, I want to say, 40 acres around that, around that, right there, all together between my uncle and my dad and my brother and stuff. Our plan is in the next probably two years I'm saying two years as like a goal, but it probably be a little longer Our plan is to set up an arena out here, or at least something similar to arena, where we can buck some bulls and maybe run some barrels out here, just have some folks over hanging out, maybe throw a jackpot on here and there, just something small, and have fun with. That's our goal, that's our feature goal and stuff. That's what we're working on right now. So you're very on practice pin as well. Yes, sir, that's a feature goal.

Speaker 2:

As for fighting bulls or something like that, for me to practice with that will probably take a long time. Just bucking some regular bulls for other people to get on and practice, maybe learn, maybe start on a bull riding Top of school and top of deal, even like a barrel racing school in or something that my sister-in-law and my mother-in-law or my step-mom can do. That's just something that we've been talking about Me and my sister-in-law and my brother trying to work our way to it, just keep up with the land and just kind of build a name out here in our small town.

Speaker 1:

Well, alright, practice pin. I know you guys travel far and in between. Whatever you guys live, right, yes, sir, outside of your town, where is the nearest practice pin? Put things in perspective.

Speaker 2:

So it'll be like Wesley Smith's place out there in Holt Florida. That's about two hours from me, two hours and 15 minutes on a good day, busy traffic day, top of deal. There's another one Knox Dunn and Ken Dunn and Cross Dunn. They own an arena in Montgomery. You'll see old Knox Dunn freestyling stuff on BFO or UBF. He does all that. He also does couple of protection. But they live about two and a half hours from us and they have a practice pin. Ken Dunn, their daddy called me. I see my book master, some Montgomery. He wanted my number so I gave it to him. He called me and told me whenever they get their arena done and they get some more fighting bulls out there and some bucking bulls out there, he wants me to come on out there and kind of hang out, fight some bulls and practice man. So I got two options Montgomery and Holt Florida.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but that's two hours away.

Speaker 2:

each way, yes sir, that's about the closest place.

Speaker 1:

Okay, with that said, within those two hours, how many guys ride bulls?

Speaker 2:

A bunch.

Speaker 1:

Just give or take.

Speaker 2:

Okay, man, they come from all over. There's some guys around here, man. There's probably 15, 20 guys back in think of right now.

Speaker 1:

Jack Potts will work for you then.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they'll work pretty good.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, nice, All right. Well, hey, you got a business. So with that business man, how much? And I'm not sure. I know they're pretty expensive. I know horses are expensive, but if you want to purchase a bull, how much?

Speaker 2:

It all depends what caliber of bull you want to get. Really, there's some they sell at the name Dotham Livestock sale and you can get them for a couple hundred bucks. It's not a thousand dollars or so or a little bit more. They buck. That's great. You got some cheap. If they don't take them back to the sale, get your money back and buy some more. Man, that's really that's my way of going it right now. That's like a cheaper way to deal. Yeah, just go into the sale, get some bulls and see if they buck, if they don't take them back and that's it. You might find some people sell them on Facebook and you'll find people that you know rodeo and stuff that have bucking bulls that they'll sell cheap and stuff like that. Something that's older up in age, like some older bulls that were pro bulls that they buck in high school deals now.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, okay, how much is that device that you guys put on their back?

Speaker 2:

The bucking dummy.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I actually don't know. To be honest with you, I never had to buy one before. I'm sure they go for a couple thousand dollars if you get a nice for one. Yeah, I'm sorry, buddy, sorry, but if you get a cheap one they can go for a couple hundred bucks or something like that.

Speaker 1:

Okay, all right. Well, just hearing you talk about your future plan and the ring and getting some bucking bulls and maybe some barrel racing going on with your family, you lit up a bit, dude. I mean you're always lit up, not like how I was on 205, but, dude, you just got this form and you always smile. You're always in a happy mood. I don't ever see you or hear that you're in a bad mood, but, dude, so you're going to do that Give or take. What do you think the cost is going to be, man? Because? Do you have a ring already? Do you have to get like Wesley? He's a welder, correct?

Speaker 2:

Yes, I think he does some welding, does some other stuff.

Speaker 1:

Yes, sir, so you're going to get some of your buddies to help you out build that ring.

Speaker 2:

I'm not, I'm not giving you ideas? All the pins, all the pins.

Speaker 1:

Giving you ideas, man, because, hey, I know for a fact, it's expensive, man. Oh, yeah, I was talking to PNW bull riding right and he's thinking about that and I was just thinking I was like man, that cost is oh yeah, it will cost you money for sure.

Speaker 2:

When we had um, see, we already got bucking sheets. They're at somebody else's place right now that. But when we had our little town kids for cross topic deal that my dad was Um, he had bucking, he bought bucking sheets and stuff and um, so we still got those. We just have to go get them and it's their massive.

Speaker 1:

So does that have time?

Speaker 2:

So we got some of the stuff and we got some panels at my, my dad's and my brother's and stuff and, um, I mean it'll work out and my brother bills fencing too, so we can fence in the place.

Speaker 1:

You know, see, I'm just, I'm just helping you gather some, you know, like a think outside the box, because I know a lot of people do that in and around these parts and uh, if you know somebody, hey, they know somebody else, they know it's another person you know and you can get it for cheap.

Speaker 2:

I'm not saying you know to be cheap, I'm just saying hey, oh yeah, save a little bit of money, Utilize your resources. Yeah, exactly, so they're all they're all racing man.

Speaker 1:

The lady's going to do that or no?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, uh, my, my wife, she's been training with a guy named Buddy Snoffer. You might have heard of him on the inspiration channel for the, the ultimate cowboy showdown. He's one of the judges on that show and then he's been on the cowboy way of Alabama and um, and that's all on the inspiration channel or the cowboy channel. So, um, he's, he, he knows this stuff. He's been doing it all his life um training his kids, the run barrels, the road to break horses. I mean he's, he's a full out true blue cowboy and he's just, he's one of the. He's a great guy. Him and his wife, both are great people and um, so they've been.

Speaker 2:

They took my wife under their under, they took my wife under um their wings and kind of um help guide her and help teach her and stuff like that. And my daughter, she's um, she's in the horse, she likes horse and stuff. But um, she right now she's more into like playing with the dolls and stuff like that. So, but my son, he uh, he's going to be. I guarantee he's going to get on some bulls now he, uh, he loves it.

Speaker 1:

All right, all right, so. So what's uh, when? When are we going to be able to see some highlights of the lady on on the horse?

Speaker 2:

I don't know Well, um, every time she goes to practice I'm still working till seven o'clock, eight o'clock and not so um, but she's, she's trying to get to the point where we're having a big rodeo, um here in Dothan, um at the fairgrounds, the peanut festival fairgrounds, um in May, and she's working her tail off to trying to get ready for that and that one. That way she can get her either her cards for that association or get a permit and at least run at that arena.

Speaker 1:

That's awesome man, that's awesome, that's where I want, that's where I was going to go. Okay, so any, any moment now, any moment, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and she sees, she's pretty dang good she's, she's, she's pretty natural at it. See, um, of course you know everybody needs practice with anything. But um see, she, she keeps a straight, a straight head and kind of focuses on everything and listens really well. So she, she'll be good.

Speaker 1:

That's good, man Well, to have a have a coach like that. I'm pretty sure if she doesn't listen he's gone or you know he's getting laid out.

Speaker 2:

I'm out.

Speaker 1:

I don't listen to your troublemaker, no, no, you know wasting my reputation on you, but no, that's awesome man. That's awesome, it's a. It's an art man. A lot of people think you just run barrels, dude. No, it's not that easy.

Speaker 2:

It's not that easy.

Speaker 1:

Yes, I don't know how they do it, you know, going to that speed and then just cutting it. The way they do it's just.

Speaker 2:

hmm, I'm not doing it.

Speaker 1:

Right, and if you're not doing it, dude, I mean you take horns for a living and love it If you don't want to do that. That just explains a lot.

Speaker 2:

You can ask my wife man, I'm sloppy riding, I can't. I can't ride with crap, I do, I can get off really good, yeah. So you that, yeah, I can't Crap you got. You got some stuff this weekend, you're going to take the kids.

Speaker 1:

What about the NFR? Man, Everybody's about to go to the NFR. When do you think the NFR is going to show up for you, man? Oh man, it'll be a while. Uh, Stay cool.

Speaker 2:

If, if it ever does, it'll be, it'll be, it'll be a good one. I just got to keep working, bust my tail off and get my pro card and Just go from there. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Fucking shoot card. Yes.

Speaker 2:

That's yep, that's everybody's goals. Get out there, man, and that's that's one of my goals. One of my goals, thank. My main goal is I want to fight the Houston rodeo. That would be, that would be fun. My brother lives out there, so that'll be fun to do that. That's that's really my main goal is get out there the Houston rodeo, fight that one, because I think that won't be really fun. Yeah, so but in a far that will. That will be a good haul for sure be be years down the road.

Speaker 1:

Okay, we're still young.

Speaker 2:

Don't feel like it sometimes right About it.

Speaker 1:

Man, tell me about it. I'm done coaching, for you know the season and I'm. I always end up going out, even after practice. You know running, and now it's like I don't have practice. I go running. I'm like man Age is catching up, man age catches up. So, sir man, speaking of catching up, man, it, the Southeast crowd man, is quite welcoming. It's been welcoming in my neck of the woods. You know, you guys really are One of a kind when it comes to sticking together and supporting each other, and I feel like I'm one of them, even though I'm in Pacific Northwest.

Speaker 1:

Yes sir, me getting some Southeast boys on. I got Wesley soon but, dude, recently I got a TJ Rendosa on. Did you listen to that episode?

Speaker 1:

I actually started that this morning and I, great guy, man, great guy, and the more, the more I talk, I talk to the photographers. I'm like dude, I'm. I want to get my feet wet right, not not just in the bull riding, not in the bullpens, not just in, you know, the, the rodeo scene, but just, you know, adventure, you know, instead of taking it on your phone, I want to take it real life and stop and smell the roses. But, man, every time I get these guys on, man, I'm just like I'm getting hungry. I'm getting hungry, just to, you know, show what's behind the lens of my camera. You know what I mean. And it's just and TJ was definitely icing on the cake on me purchasing something.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's a good man, that's good. Oh he's a really great guy man. I've met him in Brooksville and and he says great to get along with great top to takes great pictures and I seen some of his videos he done for like TikTok videos and other type of videos and stuff and he's nice and he's good. Yeah, he's, he's really good. He's got a natural for it. He's really good.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and the cool thing is is that he's just like me, man. We weren't born into it, we fell in love with it and we're sharing our story, man, which is awesome. And you know, we just had a little talk about how accepting you guys are of outsiders like us who are Showing the world what you guys are all about.

Speaker 1:

So, man, it's been been one heck of a ride. And having him on man really solidified, like hey, I'm going to purchase something so I can share my story. So yeah, man, that'd be great dude. So shout out to the Southeast boys and gals but yeah, dude, you guys been great and so I owe a lot to you, trevor. So thanks, man.

Speaker 2:

Yes, sir, I appreciate you. December 1st to the 3rd man we gotta get you out there.

Speaker 1:

I know I was telling my wife. I was telling my wife I was. I was telling her. I was like, yeah, I need to go down there, I need to go down there, and is it only the first and third? Can I? Can I be going out there?

Speaker 2:

It's the first, second and third of December, so it's three days. I mean, we, we go down there Wesley's about to be back home, yeah, from work and stuff. So we're about to buck some more bulls and stuff. Kind of get our feet wet again, get bucks and some practice bulls. So you're welcome anytime he's a good shout out to Wesley and get a time frame with him and stuff.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, yeah so what's it called?

Speaker 2:

the event. Um, it's earned Bob Corson. He, um, he's throwing on the bull riding school. Um, so it's that's. That's, that's what it's for. Um, he's going on for the first to the third and we're just really excited, man. We're hoping to have quite a few kids out there Wanting to learn, want to get on China, feather themselves at right of bulls.

Speaker 1:

So Okay, all right. When's the next big event down there, though? Let's say January through March April.

Speaker 2:

Let's see. Well, the biggest one down here, that's gonna be near here. It's gonna be that dose of one and that's gonna be in May. That's gonna be May, not through the 11th, it's a three-day deal.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

I Can see the. I can see the info on that and stuff please do.

Speaker 1:

And what's the floor of amma? The beach one, what's? What's the bulls on the beach?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that just happened About a month or two ago or something out here, so that's that's. Later on in the year they they got some bull team stuff around here, like Buck master, some Montgomery that happened a couple months ago and stuff like that. So I mean they got some big events down here, but the closest one will be that dothon one. That's gonna be really huge.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

They're expecting the biggest payout for Added money and this association's history so, and this association that has been going on for 30 plus years.

Speaker 1:

Nice, nice, yeah. So here you want to hear something about my wife. Sorry, I'll just tell everybody it's a funny story. So, man, I've been wanting to go see red clay straights. You know them because they're from Bama. They're Bama boys, right? Mm-hmm, I love me some red clay straights.

Speaker 1:

I was like man, they're coming to Vegas. They're coming to Vegas. I'm like man, I've been wanting to go to the NFR. You know, wanna go to the NFR. So they're playing with turnpike travel doors, which I there. They're too mainstream for me. Oh yeah, yeah yeah.

Speaker 1:

I mean I still like it, but it's just, you know, just not my type. I like the subjohn and I like the old stuff. But uh, so the other day I bought tickets to go see Chris table 10 for the kids they're not supposed to hear it, but and the Chris table 10 tickets with Willie Nelson and friends, they're pretty high up there, right. I mean they're expensive tickets. So I was like, well, shit, if I'm gonna buy them, that I'm gonna treat myself. So I ended up buying you do get this one ticket, one ticket to go see the, the concert in Vegas, and then I'm only gonna be there for a day, dude, I'm, it's December 8th is the concert. I'll be back December 9th at 1130. Man, it's gonna be the longest day of my life. Yeah, that's gonna be a long day.

Speaker 1:

So so you know how I pitched it to my wife. I was like, hey, I got the tickets. Oh, yeah, another thing, I'm going to Vegas by myself, by yourself. You're such a loser. But I was like, when I was telling her, I was like just trying to flinch, you know, just yeah. But you know, the icing on the cake was the help to help. That was you. I always wanted to go to NFR. So, yeah, it's gonna be a busy day, man, though.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, that's gonna be fun, though it's gonna be a fun one.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, man, they're the red clay strays.

Speaker 1:

man, they're one of a kind man, I like it. They're one of a kind man, I like that sound. But uh, yeah, dude, I just thought I'd tell you that because that was the highlight of my week.

Speaker 2:

I would. If I would told that, my wife would said get another ticket, come, come with you. Or you'd be six feet under or that most likely that one right there, but yeah, yeah, all right, man.

Speaker 1:

Well, trevor dude, when's the next time we're gonna hear from you again, man?

Speaker 2:

Anytime, man I'm, I love being on, I love talking with you. So anytime, okay, well anytime you want on.

Speaker 1:

I want to know more about the ring dude. I'll you know what? That whole Transition into that ring, into what you want. I'm hoping I'm still doing the podcast. I'm pretty sure I will be. Yes, I'm. I want updates and more updates and more updates. And, dude, I just love the fact that you are who you are and if you're gonna take a horn, you take a horn and you like it. Dude, it's crazy. It's crazy yet I don't understand it, but it's way of life.

Speaker 2:

I love it.

Speaker 1:

Other people love it. So do keep doing what you're doing, man, and I appreciate you. Tell the lady on the wife that hey, when she gets on a horse, tell her to let me know. Yes, I'm on the horse once she starts competing, on what on her? On, yes, sir, sure well.

Speaker 2:

I'll put on.

Speaker 1:

All right, man say safe travels until next time. Yes, sir you.

Speaker 2:

You.
