Speaker 1:

Johnny Samson, how are?

Speaker 2:

you. I'm pretty good man. How are you doing?

Speaker 1:

Thanks for coming out here, man.

Speaker 2:

No, I appreciate it.

Speaker 1:

Tea cup studio.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, tea cup studio here we go.

Speaker 1:

What are your thoughts?

Speaker 2:

It's cozy man, it's real cozy. It's nice, it's cozy, got a little bit of everything in here and, yeah, it's just cool to be here, man.

Speaker 1:

It'd be more girl toys, because that's all I have right. But we're renovating and it's been over a year, the renovation and everything's still in the garage.

Speaker 2:

Oh, really yeah.

Speaker 1:

So welcome to the tea cup studio.

Speaker 2:

I love it.

Speaker 1:

You know, the little one grows out of all those toys that are in the garage. But we'll see.

Speaker 2:

We'll see yeah.

Speaker 1:

It's tea cup studio, because I mean it's a guy podcast, and what better way to name something? You?

Speaker 2:

know. No, yeah, tea cup studio. Yeah, tea cup, there we go.

Speaker 1:

So not too many people come to the tea cup studio, but when they do, man, those episodes become the greatest ones. Man, yeah, j-dub Marriott, yeah, dude up there, yeah, he's gotten calls. Kind of crazy how his life exploded. His career exploded since the podcast and I honestly didn't know how much this podcast has grown until people tell me like, hey, man, I got this call from a contractor. I'm like a contractor's listening to my podcast.

Speaker 2:

You know and they're getting jobs.

Speaker 1:

I'm like well, dude, send those jobs over here too, or?

Speaker 2:

send some of that love over here. Yeah, yeah, yeah, give them a shout out.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, wiley was on yesterday. Yeah, your buddy, miles Berry, you know last year.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so James Hankinson too right.

Speaker 1:

Oh, the third. I call him the third man. Oh, the third. There we go.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he's the third, yeah.

Speaker 1:

I was snapping him last night yeah, we were just talking and this morning too, so you know he's on speed though, man.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, definitely.

Speaker 1:

The third is number one in my book.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, not definitely, yeah, yeah. Third is number one now.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Definitely good, buddy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I think he's in Idaho or something right now.

Speaker 1:

Right now. Yeah, yeah, I think he was watching Cowboy Channel yesterday in Hermeson. Oh, okay, so he's back, yeah, yeah he said he's just hanging out and everything else.

Speaker 2:

But nah welcome man. Thanks man, I appreciate it.

Speaker 1:

But the thing is, is that, dude, your career is blowing up before this podcast?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so yeah, let's try to stay humble. You're trying to stay humble, but dude your Instagram.

Speaker 1:

it's like where in the world is Carmen Sandiego, but where in the world is Johnny C? Yeah, johnny C, yeah. This episode is to figure out who is Johnny C because that's your tag in Instagram. Yeah, definitely you go by Johnny Samson. But who is Johnny C? Yeah, I see Johnny C in Vegas during the NFR.

Speaker 2:

Yeah Right, so hanging out, having fun, hanging with buddies.

Speaker 1:

Right, I see him on the reservation, doing your thing. You know fashion and you know livelihood and whatnot. But then I see you got some big names following you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so. So I'm like who is Johnny C?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and they're not, you know, not just the third, but you got some Chase Weimer right, yeah, one of my good buddies man, yeah, chase Weimer, yeah. Hey, you know, I freaked out because Sterling Drake added me no man. I was like what the heck yeah?

Speaker 2:

that's wild. Yeah, I was like I was excited for you, man, when he told me that that's big time dude. So Kat's out of the bag, he's gonna be home. Yes, yeah, you're the same man.

Speaker 1:

I'm excited.

Speaker 2:

So you guys, you got something going, then huh, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Man, I fanboyed the hell out of it.

Speaker 2:

But I didn't scare him away.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, Because he's like hey, man, hey, the closest out of your neck of the woods is Missoula, and it's like this Tuesday and this is the first week of school next week so I'm like dang it, I would totally go there and just chill. But oh yeah, Montana, Kids are first man.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, definitely Kids are first. No, yeah, I get it.

Speaker 1:

So, speaking of kids, just got done with Rascal Rodeo and that was the greatest experience of my life. I mean, I've always promoted that because I love kids, I work with kids, especially kids with disabilities and everything else, and with the way life is going right now in my life, dude, that was much needed.

Speaker 2:

Seeing those kids smile.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's the best thing.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I do that during the roundup actually. Yeah, they do the little morning rodeos and stuff like that. Get them out roping dummies and riding horses and doing all that. It's just a different feeling to be able to do that stuff and give them that joy that you feel doing those type of things.

Speaker 1:

And a lot of them don't talk, but they'll say Yee-haw.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, they got it.

Speaker 1:

And then they will say the smallest things, and today somebody didn't say anything. But they're like this is my first time on a horse.

Speaker 2:

I'm like where did this come from? Yeah?

Speaker 1:

yeah, no, that's special man. Smiles, laughs. The pictures I was making sure I was holding on to the kid anchoring him down. But I was like hey, mom or dad tell me this, we're good. We're good, We'll just X you out.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, as long as you do that.

Speaker 1:

So enough of me. I'm pretty sure I smell. I've had horse pee on me already, that's rodeo Right. It's dusty, so my allergies were just crazy. But, Johnny C, I'm going to ask you right off the bat do you eat peanut butter jelly sandwiches? Oh, like weekly Weekly. Yeah, it's like part of my diet man, you know that's a stable question and this is my way of finding out who a person is. So how do you build a PBJ sandwich man?

Speaker 2:

White bread. I switch it up from white bread and wheat bread. Just kind of depends what I have at the moment, and I do peanut butter first and then jelly Creamy or crunchy, or you don't care, crunchy, crunchy. I like crunchy. Yeah, I don't know why.

Speaker 1:

Do you stir or do you do Jeff or Skippy Skippy.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

It's different flavor.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Different. It has a little.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it just kind of depends. And then I started cheating. I started like my go-to now is uncrustable. Uncrustable is like so you're a cheater.

Speaker 1:

You're a cheater. Why are you a cheater?

Speaker 2:

I got two or three boxes in my fridge just ready to go, because those on the go is just perfect.

Speaker 1:

I've been a mom and pop since you're out there in the country. Jelly, or do you just go store by jam, preservatives, jelly, whatever you can get your hand on?

Speaker 2:

So my stepmother makes huckleberry jam.

Speaker 1:

Oh, oregon, yeah, yeah, there's nothing like it, man? Yeah, the ice cream is different Everything huckleberry in Oregon hits.

Speaker 2:

So she makes jam and so I'll just kind of raid their cupboard, take a few cans here and there and you just huckleberry jam most of the time.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so that's a mighty fine PBJ.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, what's your ratio? I like, I don't know just kind of depends on the day. Sometimes I like more peanut butter than jelly, and then other days, when you get a sweet tooth or something like that, yeah, because I really get a sweet tooth. So when I get a sweet tooth it's all jelly, a little bit of PB, but I don't know. Those are just quick and easy to go with and then they feel for a good workout.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, that's. I was going to ask you. You're a fitness guru.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. You're on top of it, yeah yeah, fitness enthusiasts, I have my certification for personal training. I also have done CrossFit and I've switched over to CrossFit instead of free weights and all that stuff for the last. I've done CrossFit for the last, like three and a half years now.

Speaker 1:

So you got that dusty tuckness and Weston Rikowski workout going on.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, nope, yeah, exactly yeah. You ready for anything you know who took.

Speaker 1:

after that he said he wasn't going to do it. He's just going to live off Mountain Dew and just run from bulls and that's a lane. He's got a big UBF BFO kid. God, I had him on man, I'm like drawing a blank. But yeah, he took over. He's a part of the whole lane Frost brand as well and a bullfighter and yeah, he was like man as I'm interviewing he's like yeah.

Speaker 1:

I'm just going to live off Mountain Dew and just run and I won't hit the gym until I really have to. Months later, he's like taking over Rikowski's, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And he's like, yeah, man, that's the best thing ever, no man it's a life changer.

Speaker 2:

Especially with tough sports like this, like bull riding, rodeo, anything to be functionally fit other than just strong and lifting weights and functional fitness is huge. It plays a big time injury prevention and just longevity in the sport.

Speaker 1:

Seems like you got a funny, you know a good sense of humor, a great sense of humor. And I got to ask you my other staple question. All right, Favorite Adam Sandler movie?

Speaker 2:

Oh, that's a tough one. I was. It's crazy, because I was just watching happy Gilmore last night and I found out Bob Barker died today or something, did he? Yeah? It was all over social media.

Speaker 1:

Today, man, I've been busy.

Speaker 2:

The price is right, guy right.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

But Billy Madison or 51st dates Okay.

Speaker 1:

A lot of people like 51st dates. Yeah, I think it's Rob Schneider in here. Yeah, no, yeah, his character, yeah, he does it perfect?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, making fun of his wife.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, he makes those movies a lot yeah, so what about yours? Mine. Oh man, I like don't mess with the zone. But 51st dates, that's a good one, grownups is good, but my favorite all time is Rain Over Me a very serious, dramatic movie of his yeah, man, if you ever get a chance.

Speaker 2:

No, yeah, have you seen it. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

It puts Bruce Springsteen the river album on top. Oh, yeah, yeah, all those songs that I mean. They have it dialed in you know, to the movie script and man when he, when he poured his heart out that song in the background, I was just like pull some heart strings on that. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, pump yourself up Right?

Speaker 1:

No, yeah, that's one of the greatest man, so all right. So fitness enthusiasts, crossfit yeah, are you handy? Are you a hand? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yes, what part? What part of the ring? Huh, what part of the ring are you on the dirt? What? Where do you fit in the rodeo world? Man Bulls?

Speaker 2:

Okay, bulls, that's just it. Yeah, that's how I've got you know, some of the best support systems. What best buddies that I know and have are through rodeo and met them all either, saved my ass being bullfighters, stock contractors, rodeo officials and Bullhands you know yeah yeah how long you been in the game since for about Six, seven years, six, yeah what got you going in there, man?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it has rodeo always been part of your life.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's always been a part of my life. So I I dabbled in quite a bit saddle bronc, well quite a bit, but saddle bronc and bulls and then Indian relay racing. So I've done that. So I've always been around horses, I've always been around the Western lifestyle. It's part of my identity, of who I am, and so Just being around that circle, you know, just having those buddies, and then just One of those things I fell into and fell in love with man, yeah.

Speaker 1:

So what was your main rodeo that you Growing up as a kid you attend?

Speaker 2:

To would be Pendleton Roundup, which is the home, the hometown rodeo, and then chief Joseph days.

Speaker 1:

She's yeah, okay.

Speaker 2:

First to yeah to staple rodeos that will forever be that was grown a lot.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, there's a lot of big names coming in, yeah yeah, yeah, I got who's there.

Speaker 2:

Not too long got the end July, got to see a lot of buddies come in, hang out with them by the shoots and just catch up, you know, because everybody's always on the move so, and especially during the rodeo run, so it was cool to just, you know, catch up with them after a while.

Speaker 1:

So there's, there's so many, there's so many things about you. Yeah, it's hard to pinpoint.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, we're still trying, we're still trying to pill that onion.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so alright, bull riding. Oh, how do you still saddle brawn?

Speaker 2:

No, no, okay strictly bull riding strictly bulls and Training Relay horses and Indian relay. You check that out. You've seen that right Not really. Oh, not really, man, you got to pull up a video, yeah, yeah they had the world championships and Walla, walla about three, four years ago. Oh, it's big part. It's becoming a huge part of the some big name rodeos. Calgary stampede, okay. Pendleton roundup oh, max stampede, it's growing.

Speaker 1:

Okay, you definitely got it. I'll check it out. I'll check it out. So we got you into that. Man, what's what's? Why is it gaining notoriety, man? Why is it getting big?

Speaker 2:

cuz it's if you go. So If you go to a rodeo and they have that, that's the most exciting, besides bull riding. I'd say it's the most exciting thing to watch because you're riding. It's a relay race, so you have three throwbed horses.

Speaker 1:

Mm-hmm and.

Speaker 2:

And you're racing against five other teams bareback. You ride nose throwbeds bareback as a relay One time around the arena or track, jump off, exchange on to a horse within the matter of seconds, jump off, take off again, yeah, and do that three, four times and it's exciting, it's electrifying, it gets the crowd going and it's a true testament of horsemanship. Huh, yeah, cuz it's, it's bareback, you're not no saddles, no, nothing's but rain in a whip, oh yeah.

Speaker 1:

Might have crossed it, but okay. So the big traditional rodeos yeah, picked it up and you think it'll go down to the smaller Rodeos?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it has. So they have, like, they have the PRCA and then they have the Indian Circuit. So a lot of the Indian Circuit rodeos include that yeah, as a staple of the rodeo, but as far as smaller rodeos, I'm not sure. I think it's just. It's kind of one of those things. It's where the big money's at, yeah, where the money can be put into those races, and it almost reminds me of the old Roman years you know how they just go and circle.

Speaker 1:

But yeah. Minus that, yeah, no, yeah. What was trippy? I went to the John Day rodeo is. I think it's. It was the ICA and the Northwest.

Speaker 2:

PRA. Yeah, yeah, and PRA and PRA.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I think there was a duel and they had the cow high.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, dude, that, that trip me out, because those, those kids and the kids that were in the back man, they were just eating a shit ton of dirt.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, In your ears canal, you're gonna oh my god that that tricked me out, man, because oh, the guy that I've been hanging out with, dan the man, shout out Dan the man and we, we did a mountain race, yeah, and I was just exhausted, I just wanted to get done. But I found out that John Day had that rodeo and he met me. Never been to rodeo and I love the small town rodeo. Yeah, there's nothing like it yeah and then the cow hide is like the heck, yeah, and it happened, yeah that was the highlight of my night.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, they had that, I think, at the hundred oh anniversary rodeo Pendleton oh yeah, they did that, that's pretty, pretty wild. And to go on the green mile and go crazy on that is little intense, yeah man.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it is. And how those, those little kids are just Will jump on a horse, yeah, like that, you know, with some help. But it's like these kids, I guess they do this for life.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, no, yeah, little handy kids man, yeah, yeah, yeah, so.

Speaker 1:

All right, so all right now. They're not another onion pill, just a little layer. All right, fashion, fashion, fashion you're huge on fashion.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, man, you're like an influencer at that. Yeah, I've been put into that category a little bit. But fashion, the fashion is just kind of something that Just I don't know. It's part of like who you are, who my who I am, my personality. I Like big, flashy, you know intricate designs and just you know shit that stands out. Yeah, you know, it's just my personality and it's part of it and it's kind of who I am, you know so, but with the native flair to it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I've noticed that. Yeah, you rock it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And it's modern. It's not, you know, you know traditional, it's like the modern modern it looks.

Speaker 2:

It's all these brands that are putting out, you know that are given the Native American Culture. You know a little bit of show, so but you know, anything I can do to you know, represent that in my own way. Yeah, it's just, that's just kind of Well you got it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you're at the in a bar. Yeah, yeah, you're on the the catwalk I saw yeah, you know you don't have too many videos or too many posts on your Instagram. Yeah but dude, what you got, it's like I'm getting it. Yeah, I'm getting it, but alright. So Fashion, you've been talking. Is this the time to?

Speaker 2:

yeah, bring it up, so so somebody reached out to you. Yeah, a big Western fashion brand. Yeah, lifestyle brand reached out.

Speaker 1:

Last week, last week, and how did you feel, man? Did you jump up for joy? Were you a fan boy? Were you like, oh my god, like I was with certain people?

Speaker 2:

crazy. Yeah, the crazy thing is, yeah, it was just like, so I've had some, you know, I had like I have some Really big-time fashion influence, western fashion influencers, you know, and they've kind of, you know, threw my name out there, you know, just for on their own, indeed, I guess, and so this actually happened the other day I almost didn't answer the call, because it's now it's the telemarketers that are, you know they're getting bad.

Speaker 1:

They come from a 509 number. They 509, yeah, what the?

Speaker 2:

heck, yeah, yeah. So I thought it was a telemarketer on myself and I was like oh, so I'm just gonna pick up. Usually I don't answer, but half the time I'll pick up and I'll just mess with them. They'll be like oh, and I'll be like, oh, mcdonald's or Domino's pizza, I do it too yeah. Yeah, and they're like what? And then? But so I picked up and I almost said something. They're like, hey, how's it going, this Johnny? And I'm like, yeah, texas number. Oh, you got to pick that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah anything yeah right yeah, especially in your line of work.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, so yeah, texas. So I was like, hmm, who could this be? Hey, how's it going? Is this Johnny? This is so-and-so Representative for this Western Western lifestyle brand and clothing brand, and We've seen your page, we've got recommendations from so-and-so in the Western fashion industry and I'm like, wait, what Right?

Speaker 1:

you're like, come again. Like, am I hearing you right?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, like turn around, who's pranking me right now? And I'm like, okay, I'm like this, so-and-so. Anyways, we like what you do, we like the stuff that you put on, you know, instagram. We'd like to see more it's clean it's. I don't know if it's directly to a point, because like the, so, um, anyways, and they're like, we'd love to work with you, we'll be down there for the pedals and roundup.

Speaker 2:

Let's exchange information. We want to work with you. We've got a few ideas and we got. We just want to get to know you more. Um, you can have, you know, a representative or yourself kind of tell us more a little bit about yourself, background or whatever. But they were like, yes, well, we're going to be down there for pedals and roundup. Um, here's my information. I'll text you want to get in and we look forward to hanging out with you and talking more about this opportunity and we look forward to meeting you. And so I was like kind of, I was like oh thanks, and it all just happened so quick that I was just like all right, but and then I just sat there. You're like what in the heck just happened, what, where and why and how you know it. Just it caught me off guard so it was kind of crazy. But you know, I just sat there and I'm just like man, like that's pretty sweet you know.

Speaker 1:

So is this Johnny C Ah man there's so much yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, there's no, there's so much. That's the crazy thing is like I only show like just a sliver of you know, I got you who I am, but I had so like that goes back to like the instagram thing. I had a bunch of stuff like I'm doing something all the time and I'd tell. All the time I'm somewhere, I'm doing something with people.

Speaker 2:

You know, and I've kind of slowed back from In the instagram, but now with the opportunities and stuff like that, and the things that are happening lately, like the opportunities that I have right now, are just Crazy. Yeah and they're, they're rolling in and it's just like you know, wow, yeah, you know. And so, like the instagram thing, like I have six or seven posts and I don't know if it's really direct or, you know, captivating enough to be like man, like what the heck's he doing or who's this.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you know like we. Well, your tag fits it. Yeah, the tag fits in.

Speaker 1:

It's perfectly. Yeah, it's perfect. So another onion. Another layer right yeah you're huge in the music Industry, dude, you're everywhere. You're either in band, but you want, you wanted to go to the wheat stock. I mean, yeah, music, music. What does music bring to you, man?

Speaker 2:

Man, music is a huge part of me, um, and it brings like a bit peace to me, like I don't know, it's my escape from every day's you know, every day's stuff that you're going through or things that happen, opportunities, because there's music for every moment in life. You know, that's what I enjoy about it and I don't stick to just one genre of music. I grew up on everything. So, like my main staples are like country, rap and hip hop, r&b and then reggae.

Speaker 1:

Right, yeah, you like that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah. I spent some time in Hawaii, lived over there for a while, and ever since I can remember I just reggae's been a staple music to me and one of my good buddies from the Common Kings, the reggae band basically like family. They just released their album yesterday along with, you know, zach Bryan. So I was showing love to Zach Bryan, because man, zach Bryan, who he is, I got to see him in concert and then just recently yeah.

Speaker 2:

And so I had to shout out to my buddies out in Hawaii yeah, out there, you're everywhere though. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

It's crazy.

Speaker 2:

I thought I was yeah.

Speaker 1:

I mean. But it's like you know, Johnny C, nick, yeah, man.

Speaker 2:

I'm just. I'm one of those guys that's always on the move. It's hard to sit, still it is. It really is.

Speaker 1:

Have you always been like that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's just kind of just been instilled to me to like just enjoy life and take opportunities and make the most of opportunities.

Speaker 2:

Well, you're doing it and yeah, and just live life because, man, it's a short ride. You really think about it in a bigger perspective. Yeah, it's a short ride, so why not make the most of it and do the things you love with the people you love and just enjoy? Yeah, and that's every aspect of life. It's like the ups the downs. You know, with the highs highs come, the lowest lows, but you know, just navigating through those.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

And just enjoying life for what it is, man, Because yeah and having a positive outlook about everything and about life.

Speaker 1:

So that's what.

Speaker 2:

I'm everywhere yeah.

Speaker 1:

And you're very, very responsive too on the Instagram, yeah. So, me, hollard Sachie, you know, and you've helped me out a lot too, because I've briefly told you hey, man, I'm down in the dumps and this is crazy, yeah, yeah. You've helped me bring light to a lot of situations, believe it or not, and just the correspondence and whatnot. But, dude, you're one of the nicest guys.

Speaker 2:

Oh man, thanks really. Yeah, I appreciate that, I appreciate that and you're very positive and it's just like dude.

Speaker 1:

Who in the heck is Johnny C? Yeah, yeah, and we're going layer after layer, and so are majority of the layers been said or no? Oh man.

Speaker 2:

We're just going to start, yeah, yeah, we're just getting started, dude, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

I mean, what's the hat all about, man?

Speaker 2:

Oh, for some reason I knew you were going to ask about this it's PV Farms out in Texas. They're a big ranch outfitter out there and they recently just kind of so they've had their PV farms and they recently kind of you know how I don't know a lot of Western brand or industry brands and ranches and everything has kind of turned into this new day fashion type of thing.

Speaker 1:

There's so many, too many.

Speaker 2:

Too many yeah.

Speaker 1:

It's tough to pinpoint one or two. And if you try to pinpoint one or two. A bigger one gets involved.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, yeah. So I don't know man Like one of my buddies has actually worked on PV Farms and he's like hey, check out these hats, man. And, like I said, I'm vibrant, I like fashion. So he was like yo, check out this new line of hats. We have Senji one and Shoutouts PV Farms. And there he's like, pick one, and this one stood out to me. So this is kind of what it is and then, like with this too, it's Freefall Cowboy.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's out of Idaho. Yeah, yeah, I've tried to reach out to them.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Dude, I would love to have them on.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and we can make that happen. We're going to make that happen. If you're listening, if you're going to listen, same thing, hey, we want you to put the brand out and give you some shirts, some hats. Yeah, you know, get some pictures up, post this, you know, give us a shout out.

Speaker 1:

You're almost like the Pacific Northwest, nick Gaspar, it is. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I know my people, yeah, yeah yeah, see. Yeah, you are man. Yeah, but you're not a roper though. No, he is no.

Speaker 2:

I don't know. Shout out to Ropers.

Speaker 1:

Right, it's just not me.

Speaker 2:

But yeah, no see, that's the crazy thing. Is just like don't like to say I put too much effort into these things, but it just yeah. But I fall into it. Something's hitting, though. Yeah, something's hitting.

Speaker 1:

People are reaching out people are putting your name out there. You know yeah. And then here you are. You're on my podcast for some moderates.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, some moderates, I'm like.

Speaker 1:

You have friends in high places, but then here I am low place and I'm like all right.

Speaker 2:

And you're a supporter, You're a supporter. Oh yeah, definitely you love the stuff yeah.

Speaker 1:

I appreciate every time somebody's saying you know they listen. It's just like really.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, yeah, no. Yeah, I've tuned in man. So yeah, I appreciate it, yeah.

Speaker 1:

So, of all the episodes besides this one, what's your favorite episode, man?

Speaker 2:

I actually I liked James's because I know him. The third, the third, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Sorry, I like the third, the third.

Speaker 2:

I like his because I know him personally.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and.

Speaker 2:

I know his mindset. Great guy, man, great guy.

Speaker 1:

yeah, he seems like a great mentor to the kids coming up.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, no yeah.

Speaker 1:

Because he knew Dexon Draper and Draper was you know, spoke very highly of you know the third and the third. You know, he'd just tell you how it is.

Speaker 2:

Oh, that's what I love about him Bro it's like whoa, yeah, no.

Speaker 2:

There's a couple of times he's got on my ass. He's like hey, greatness recognized the thing that he's, the thing that will forever stand out to me. He goes hey, man, I was in my head about bulls, you know, coming back from a huge injury, and was just like man, I don't know, I can't do this right now, I can't do it. And he's like you know what? Greatness recognizes greatness. And if greatness doesn't push you to be great, then what are we here for? What are you doing?

Speaker 2:

Like you, do everything you can do and be great at it. And just his mindset man. He's a good friend, he's one guy that can get you in the right head space. And that's the kind of people that I like to surround myself with.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, shout out to the third again.

Speaker 2:

Shout out to the third, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, no, he's a great guy and it's a funny how he's influenced so many kids. And just recently he got good word I don't know if you keep tabs on what he's recently happened. He's got another. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and I put it on there. He's like no, no, no, no, not in the car, it was just a signature.

Speaker 2:

I'm like all right, well, still man. Yeah, I know, come on, let me just do it yeah.

Speaker 1:

I appreciate it, but I was like I'll delete it. He's like you don't have to, but it's just another signature. I'm like bro, I'm stoked. I appreciate the love and support. So, yeah, we go back and forth. Just, he supports me, I support him and he told me he's like you know, because when I started this I figured out what's the worst somebody's going to say no.

Speaker 2:

You know what I mean.

Speaker 1:

And so every now and then he reminds me. He's like dude, they're just another person. I'm like it's true, yeah, it's true, but some people take it up a notch man, you know. And I don't know. Man, you made a name for yourself. I'm somewhat making a name for myself. I mean, I had Del Brizby. Oh yeah, make a mockery of my mockery. It's like do you need?

Speaker 2:

to yeah, no, yeah, see, look here. And then Del Brizby is one of the biggest Western personalities out there. So for that to be something is something in itself. Man, what a punk dude. Yeah, I know, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

And I had Del Cruz on one of his interns, from Georgia. He's a horse trainer and everything else. And he told me he's like dude, yeah, every now and then he'll respond. And dude, you get a response from him.

Speaker 1:

And he's quite funny because I told Wiley yesterday. I was like, yeah, man, I told him about this story, but I also told him like every now and then he'll answer his phone with your text and everything. I was like dude, when can I get this interview? I was like dude, you can be in part. Well, thank you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, oh, thanks, I got the other side note right there. Why, thank you?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you know, but yeah, dude, one of these days. But dude, it's like you're there, you got the third. Third is your favorite episode is kind of humble of you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Because, man, you know, I've had Dalton Davis.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, Dalton is one of my good buddies too, yeah.

Speaker 1:

And I heard he just shaved his face and it was just like bro you look, 37, 47. Now you look 17.

Speaker 2:

17,. Yeah, yeah, no, yeah, dalton's quite a hand man.

Speaker 1:

So shout out to Dalton Davis Quite the welder too, oh yeah, yeah, he's busting out OG on that. So all right, man, day job, day job. Do you have a day job, or do you have enough just to flow by?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, man, I do have a day job. I work at the health clinic. Ok, I'm the transportation coordinator.

Speaker 2:

All right, and that's like my, I guess, 9 to 5. It's a good job. I enjoy working with community. I enjoy working with patients. Oh yeah, you wouldn't be there if you didn't, yeah. No, and you know, it's one of those things I kind of just fell into. You know, yeah, I've done pretty good for myself, but this is one of those career opportunities that just I kind of fell into and I enjoy it for the most part, yeah.

Speaker 2:

I mean there's ups and downs to everything. But yeah, working at the health clinic is pretty cool. Oh yeah, I never thought I'd see myself working, and it's not so much. You know, it's pretty laid back, but it's also your hands on and your dealing people in the community day to day type thing, and I'm all about just helping people be, healthy and doing the best you can. You know.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

But yeah, day job, that's it.

Speaker 1:

You're a good guy, man.

Speaker 2:

You're a good guy, dude, you're not just some guy you know just posting on Instagram. And sometimes that's what I feel, like You're like it's the crazy thing about it, it's just like I don't really. The whole thing about social media now is having this aesthetic or something like you know, yeah, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and a lot of people take that. You know as is, but I always try to get underneath everything.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And try to figure out who this person is. Yeah, not just because you're going to be on the podcast. It's just like all right, you know, are you friends with? What's this tag? Fifth Giant or?

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, anthony Bonifit. Yeah, I've been trying to get him, that's not I know you're friends with him.

Speaker 1:

You know I knew it, but I've been watching him, you know, at Lotto's every now and then yeah, at Pasco, yeah, yeah, yeah. And I'm like dude, when are you going to get on? You don't want me on man.

Speaker 1:

So, I ran in with to him earlier in the year with his buddies. You know his crew, his traveling crew, yeah, and at the CCT up in Primville, yeah, yeah, and I'm like dude when you want to. You don't want me on, man, yeah, I'm like, come on, dude, just tell me, give me your story. Yeah, let's talk about it. Yeah, yeah, great guy, very humble Clean eater too, the cleanest eater of all yeah.

Speaker 2:

No, yeah, yeah, no, yeah. That's all I love about that kid man. It's like he's very disciplined and he's, he is like a humble guy. Yeah, it's one of my closest buddies. Traveled with him, you know, when I was deep in the rodeo. But, like I said, this injury has made me step back and kind of reevaluate a few things and then kind of just step into a different aspect of it.

Speaker 1:

What was the injury? If you don't mind me asking.

Speaker 2:

I had. They called it a severe break. I broke my arm up here. Bad, get off. Snapped it clean in half. Did it go out of the scan? It almost did. It was like almost protruding, like it was a point. It was like it was like this, but I had a long sleeve on and you could see it through the long sleeve.

Speaker 2:

And yeah, I got just just got whipped down hard covered. The bull got whipped down hard, put my elbow out last minute and that's all I heard. And then I tried to get up with it and it just collapsed. I mean, it was just dangling and they call it a severe break. I don't know exactly what that meant or means, but it was like almost like a sever it happened so clean. It was like severed and they put a titanium bar all the way through it.

Speaker 1:

Oh OK.

Speaker 2:

That, that like next day, because they were like we have to get this. Because it was like and then afterwards it was like sitting like this yeah. So they had to knock me out, pull it, straighten it out, put it together, and then they said six to eight weeks you'd be good, as new Year and a half goes by, not healed, really, Seriously, year and a half, and has it been that long since the break?

Speaker 2:

A little over, probably close to two years now. No, ok, but I was over here going to the hospital. Yeah, I think I went to 14 appointments. Every single appointment was the same. It's not healing right, just give it more time. And then 14 appointments later. It's not healing right, just give it more time. So I just was like and they were talking about coming back in to do the surgery differently Take this out, take the bar out and then put two plates in with six screws and see if it took, because my body, I guess, wouldn't take to the hardware that's in it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, sometimes it happens. Yeah, unfortunately, it doesn't happen to you, geez.

Speaker 2:

So year and a half, like six, eight weeks, I'm like, yeah, we're going to get right back to it, we're going to strengthen it up, get back to bulls. Year and a half goes by nothing. And so I just kind of got in this weird headspace man, because it was just like get away from something you love, yeah. And it just kind of starts messing with you and it's just like dang, no, I got you. And it's like do I want to do this anymore? No, I want to come back because it's something I love, it's part of me. And then you know, and so since then, you know, I kind of and I kind of just took matters in my own hands. I was like, you know what? I'm going to start working out again, getting it, you know, get the blood flowing, getting something going.

Speaker 2:

And got back in the CrossFit and half the crap I couldn't even do because I didn't have no strength in my arm, didn't have no strength in my shoulder, all the muscles depleted. But I was just like, yeah, I don't have a choice. I wasn't giving myself a choice. I'm like I'm going to make this happen and I'm going to bring myself back Right. And then, so since then I've dabbled a little bit. Getting back into bulls, carefully, carefully, as much as careful as bull riding is you know, which is not careful at all.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but I mean, you kind of have to be reckless and you have to just go for it, man.

Speaker 1:

Now was relay horses the same time you're doing bulls. It was before Before. Yeah, has this made it stronger to the relay horses? Since your break, have you put more time in the relay horses?

Speaker 2:

No, no, no. I honestly, just this year I've kind of stepped back from rodeo just to yeah, gotcha. You know, just to find that, where that headspace is at and find out where I want to go with it, and I almost thought about just hanging it up completely. With that said, that's been my mindset. It's like, okay, well, maybe it's just time to hang it up and go in a different direction with the Western industry, because, no matter what, I can't get away from it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Just like the other day, a buddy called hey, stock contractor, good friend of mine. It's like hey, we are going to put on a bull riding clinic here pretty quick. I want you to be there, I want you to help me run it. I want you to show these up and coming kids a few things. Work more one-on-one with them, spend some time with them and then just teach them what you know. So I was just like man.

Speaker 1:

And you did it. No, it's coming up Nice.

Speaker 2:

So I was just like no matter how much I try to get away from it, it just sucks me right back, Sucks back yeah. Yeah, and whether it's working horses or riding horses, it's just something that's just ingrained.

Speaker 1:

I've had a lot of people on saying, man, their goal is to just pay it forward for these kids.

Speaker 2:

No, definitely.

Speaker 1:

And do you think that's a calling for you? You think you're going to do that man.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, no, Any chance I would get to share my experiences or knowledge within the sport or just the Western industry in itself. I'm definitely going to pay that forward Because at one point or another, if we were those kids trying to come up in the game and learning and trying to just absorb everything we could, so I don't want to be one of those guys that's like, nah, man, I don't want to deal with these kids and just bunch of punks whatever. I want to help them, just like some of the guys that are in my rodeo family now have helped me.

Speaker 1:

That's the biggest circle of all time, yeah definitely man.

Speaker 2:

That's an endless circle.

Speaker 1:

You got Chase. I mean, I've commented on a couple of his posts, but it's just like all right, whatever, it doesn't get anywhere. But dude, do you have Chase? I mean, do I have Dalton? I mean you got the whole?

Speaker 2:

Have you looked at some of the followers and stuff.

Speaker 1:

Well, I looked at your posts and I see I follow a lot of the people that you're friends with and I'm like, all right, dude, come on. Yeah, no, Chase this is the best. I don't look at who's following. I just I see who I follow that has either commented or that liked your posts.

Speaker 2:

I'm like what, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm kind of out there with the in that world man. It's just, it's cool, it's what you love, man.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I see it on your face. Even though you know you're, you're wearing sunglasses and everything but it seems like the rodeo world is where your passion is and that you want to stay. Yeah, and honestly, it's not going to go anywhere unless you actually cut it out of your life.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and I've tried Right.

Speaker 1:

Believe me, there's one point.

Speaker 2:

I've tried and it just won't go away. And it is not necessarily if it was just the rodeo world, but like just anything with the Western industry.

Speaker 1:

You know, but that's your. That's you, though, with all these layers. Yeah, that's your life. Yeah, yeah, it's your life. There's no way around it and I think it would hurt you as a person if you walk away. Yeah, like you think you might, or?

Speaker 2:

want to. Yeah, just say you know what, screw it. Yeah, and honestly yeah, because like, like I said, like, and you know this whole little Western, not little sorry.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but like this Western, like it's getting big man, no, yeah, it's getting big girl.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, like the Western fashion industry, like all that kind of the influencer type thing is just kind of like kind of grabbing a hold of me.

Speaker 1:

It's hot, though it's hot right now, yeah, and it's, it's.

Speaker 2:

It's crazy because You're the right person. I never thought. You know, I always see them and I'm a lot of friends. I'm friends with a lot of them locally and just kind of everywhere, you know, and it's cool, I enjoy it and they're putting it, you know, out there and it's trendy and it's becoming bigger, on a larger scale, you know, and so I didn't really put any thought into it. It's just so when I post things, it's just. That's just me Like, I'm like crazy to say but that's just you, but your tag is who is Johnny?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and so many people are like who is this guy? Right, you know, and like man, he's doing something. I like I can hardly, you know, catch up with him. Or when I do catch up, he's on the something else, or he's just he's everywhere and it's just like I don't know it's just, I don't really put thought into it. I just I'm one of those guys that if I do something, or if I say I'm going to do something, I'm going to do it, yeah.

Speaker 1:

You know it's like we're on to you, but you're two or three steps ahead of everyone. Yeah, and then I get it from your tag yeah.

Speaker 2:

It's like dude messing with people If I post something I already left there.

Speaker 1:

So right next thing yeah.

Speaker 2:

But yeah, I don't know man, I just I don't know. But like I'm saying, like it's that, that realm of the Western industries, kind of pulling me into it and never really like that wasn't my goal or anything, or that wasn't you know something I really had in mind. But I'm like, hey, man, if you know, opportunity presents itself and they, you know, want to talk to me or they wouldn't work with me. Photo photographer is reaching out, you know, hey, we want to. I have like four photo shoots during roundup.

Speaker 2:

So you look at you man, and look at it. It's like to me it's kind of crazy. It's just like I'm just taking it in stride and just rolling with it, man.

Speaker 1:

And you're a humble guy, man, it's not like you're like man, yeah, I got four, yeah, and it's like you know what are you saying, nick.

Speaker 2:

No, I don't want to hear. No, never that man. I couldn't be that guy. So the roundup right, I've always wanted to go. You have to See it on the TV.

Speaker 1:

I'm not a big on crowds. Believe it or not, I'm not a huge fan of crowds.

Speaker 2:

Those are rodeo, but I'm not big on crowds. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll go yeah.

Speaker 1:

I'll go no I get that. I sit. When I sit, my wife's all like I want to go on the crowd. You know, I want to go on the crowd. I'm like I don't want to go on the crowd.

Speaker 2:

I don't want to go.

Speaker 1:

I don't want to do, I don't want to fight people this view why I went there, you know. I don't get there to get hammered.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

I get there to believe it or not. It's funny. I go in there and figure out the talent, Like I'll have, you know, the day sheet and the kids up and coming. That's why I go to the smaller ones right. The up and coming ones. I'm like man, this guy, yeah, yeah. You know, and I'm just like a little scout.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

I love doing that. Yeah, you know, I know the game, I really do, I feel I do, I feel I got what it takes to, just, you know, be that next guy. Yeah, yeah, or find out who that next kid is, or girl, or you know whatever. Yeah, and I got it, and it's. That's what I do. I don't get up, I don't go use the bathroom. 50,000 times. I just sit there, drive my friends. You know crazy my wife's.

Speaker 1:

Sometimes you're like why don't you just get a pair? I'm like no, but I'll just sit there and watch the whole thing. You know like I do baseball or football and always drove them nuts. But I don't go there to just conversate. The social aspect.

Speaker 2:

I don't do it, maybe afterwards.

Speaker 1:

But you know, I ran into Miles yesterday after I went to the comedy show you know, and I talked to him for a little bit and just on my merry way. But it's I go there to view because I love the sport. I love the ambience of just being out there and seeing kids because you know I'm 41 kids just enjoy what they do, oh yeah, and then continue on their day.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's nothing like it. Yeah, there's nothing like it, man, yeah.

Speaker 1:

And me doing what I do. You know I love the game right, I said that, but me bringing the game into. You know the ultra running world and seeing the ultra running world. Embrace the rodeo world and the rodeo world embracing. You know running you know, I have some rodeo guys that say hey, dude, I don't never ran, but hey, I did 5K because you know yeah, I'm catching on All right. So that's the kind of stuff I love to hear.

Speaker 2:

No, yeah, and yeah man for a bit.

Speaker 1:

A lot of people thought it was just a game that I was playing. You know, on the rodeo world, oh really, yeah, man. And then it just proved them wrong and continue to prove them wrong. That's what.

Speaker 2:

That's what it's about, man. Yes.

Speaker 1:

And a lot of the you know the big names around here really question my ability. And I think I gain their respect.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean seeing what's happening. They've seen the names.

Speaker 1:

So it's like okay, yeah, yeah, real deal, yeah, yeah, yeah, maybe the bigger picture, you know, the bigger guys that are back, no, not so well yeah.

Speaker 2:

We won't go there. I won't go there.

Speaker 1:

But other than that man. You know I got nothing back in me. I'm just doing it for the love of it.

Speaker 2:

That's what it's about, man. That is what it's about.

Speaker 1:

That's why I really appreciate you guys coming out here to the T-Cup Studio. Oh, t-cup, or yeah, yeah, yeah just you know, shoot it, but with that break and without relay. If you weren't bull riding, what would you be doing? Man Within that?

Speaker 2:

And in the dirt, in the dirt, in the rain. Probably I'd still be involved with bulls.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

Whether it's hauling bulls, you know, or getting into that stock contractor aspect of still being behind the chute, still being hands-on, yeah, still, you know what's stopping you?

Speaker 1:

Huh, what's stopping you? All these other, these layers?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, right now, man, like, yeah, and you know, just like barking bulls and stuff like that, so just like, and then even these clinics and stuff like that that I'm asked to help out with, and you know, it's just one of those things I don't necessarily want to just put myself, I'm just going to stay in this lane, but whether it has to do with anything that's in the dirt, you know, that's just where I want to be, you know, you know.

Speaker 1:

What is it about bulls that you just need to be around, man. What is it?

Speaker 2:

Just the camaraderie of all the bullhands, the bull riding kind of community, the game in itself, man, and also just it's just like a small. It's not small, but I should say, but the community is what I love about it, and the feeling and the excitement and just it's just one of those things that gets in your it's in your veins and you have to be around it. And once you're around it it's hard to get away from it. You can ask anybody.

Speaker 1:

You say community man, but you're a big metropolitan, small little mecha you know, Little communities of itself. And so, oh man, it's just here in you. You say community, man, it's like which one.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, I see which one, and I'm one of those guys that can kind of just I can. I don't want to say like I don't know mold, but I can.

Speaker 1:

Well, you are, though. Yeah, I can. You are, with all these connections that you're making, all you know, with the who is Johnny C? Yeah, I'm a chameleon man.

Speaker 2:

Like, yeah, I'd say I'm a chameleon, like I don't like to necessarily just put myself in the one box because I've never been like that. You know, I like to just keep it diverse and just Just background To yeah, yeah, and you know, I don't know, I just don't box myself as one thing or one person, I'm just, you know, and that's why the tag is.

Speaker 1:

The tag is because You're three steps ahead, dude.

Speaker 2:

Not one, not two. You're 30 steps ahead.

Speaker 1:

And people are going to catch on man yeah, people are going to catch on. You're like dude. Why did Nick put this guy on?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he's like dude, I'm glad you're here. But no, I appreciate that man.

Speaker 1:

The talent, who's caught your eye? Man? That is not big, that is, you know, up and coming here, there, anywhere in between man, who's that?

Speaker 2:

one kid, that one kid, let me think I want to say see, a lot of my buddies are in the CCT, A lot of them are coming up. Yeah, man, the one kid that was you know, he's just signed with the PBR teams. Kade Madsen, yeah, and then Kade Madsen was one of them, because I've been watching him.

Speaker 1:

He's a different breed dude. He was different, Like in a good way. Like he focused and focused and stayed focused and didn't do anything else.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and there's this one kid out of Idaho I'm blanking right now Shoot, he's like 18, 19, but he's a hand.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I can't think of his name right now, but there's probably two or three, but yeah.

Speaker 1:

Why is it CCT big, as it should be, man?

Speaker 2:

I don't know. I mean it's big enough.

Speaker 1:

There's a lot of big boys that come out of that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, yeah. From what I know, it's just like they like to put on a show.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

And for a lot of those compared to, like PRCAs or anything like that, the payouts bigger, they have a huge payout.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

You can go there and win a bull riding for five grand. Some of these PRCAs one to two grand maybe you know, but I think it's about they like those smaller shows, smaller production, because the show is bigger.

Speaker 1:

Gotcha.

Speaker 2:

And they bring a lot of stock, are pretty good, but a lot of it's rider friendly. So you know they're putting on a show that way A lot of guys are covering. They're not going to see one guy out of 20 guys. You know ride Gotcha and there's going to be four or five, you know. So I think it's you know the production value kind of and they like that smaller show because it's you know.

Speaker 1:

The one person you like to watch. You know. Let's say you're in the social area at a horse having right Roundup yeah. That one person, if you hear his name or you know he's coming up. So one person, male or female, you have to watch, you must, so Kai.

Speaker 2:

Hamilton man. Yeah, dude, I reached out yeah. He's a beast. Yeah, kai Hamilton, okay For Bulls and obviously Stetson, because he's just a freak athlete.

Speaker 1:

Right.

Speaker 2:

Just gifted and it's just you know. Anything he does is just amazing. So and then for girls yeah, barrel racer, barrel racer, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, look at it, it's a danger turning red and you don't even have that color.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, barrel racer's got. Can't live with him, can't live without him. Why am I blanking right now? She is Haley Kinzel. Haley Kinzel, just kids. Yeah, her horse is amazing.

Speaker 1:

Her horse. I mean no, I know, I got you, she's beautiful as well.

Speaker 2:

Where's?

Speaker 1:

she out of man.

Speaker 2:

She's out of Texas. Yeah, she's world champion a few times.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, favorite bullfighter since bullfighting Dude, I love it, I love it. They brought me back into the sport full-till. Just the love of you know. Man versus animal.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

There's nothing like it. So bullfighter Protection and also, you know, freestyle.

Speaker 2:

Ryan Manning. And the third, the third. Ah, he's getting another shout out, and Miles Berry, because they've all covered my tell multiple times, plenty times, yeah, yeah. As far as the BFO, I paid attention, but yeah, but not enough to where I would know names like Did they stop?

Speaker 1:

that here.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, horse having, yeah I haven't seen it in a few years. Yeah, it's changed, but I enjoy that. I was down in Vegas, I watched that. Yeah, went down there and watched that while I was down there for then a far week and stuff like that. But you know, I hate to say I don't pay attention enough to who's who and who's fighting, and it's mainly, you know, when it comes to the rodeo aspect and the bull riding aspect, like those names are going to be the names that you know. I hope that are there because I know they're going to save my tail nine times out of 10. Gotcha, yeah, so, but those three man and those are all good buddies of mine, so Okay, when you came up here.

Speaker 1:

you're traveling from wherever you're, you know where you're from. What was the number one thing you listen to? What song Number one?

Speaker 2:

well, let's let, yeah what were you listening to, man? I was listening to Lil Wayne. Honestly, lil Wayne, yeah. The song called Let it All Work Out, because that's just, I don't know. It's resonated with my life lately because you know, life is life. Can you know? Life happens, basically Right, and we all have our good days or bad days, and rough patches and great moments. And lately that song speaks to me. You'll have to listen to it. I plugged it a couple of days ago on Instagram, but it's just let it. It just says let it all work out because you know, life happens and there's certain aspects and situations you can't control. But as long as you have the mindset to bounce back or get back up, dust yourself off, keep pushing forward, chin down, you know, just like bulls, chin down, chest out, keep pushing forward and don't let things stop you and things tend to work out, you know, and life is crazy right now for me, but in a great way though. In a great way.

Speaker 2:

Like it's just, like it's truly a blessing man, because it's just like. Sometimes you just sit back and you're like I don't know why this is happening.

Speaker 1:

I don't know what's going on. Are you in that stage right now? A little bit yeah.

Speaker 2:

I was talking to my buddy yesterday and I was like dude, what's happening? He's like I don't. He's like you're just you, man. And I was like what does that even mean? He's like you're just different, you're cut from a different cloth and you just got to own that. And I'm like, I'm trying to like I do.

Speaker 1:

You are From a guy outside looking in. You are.

Speaker 2:

But let it all work out. You have to listen to it and it's just about, you know, letting life work itself out.

Speaker 1:

Right now, at this moment, if you had to look at your playlist, number one song on your playlist man number one song on my playlist right now. If you had to, just you know, hey, put some tunes on that first one, what would it be? Katy Perry, yeah.

Speaker 2:

A lot of boys.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm surprised me too. And the guy uh, gabriel Garner man or Gardner Gabriel, up in Tennessee. He's like I listen to Katy Perry a lot.

Speaker 2:

Hey, I, there's some girly gems that I won't front, man, there's some girly gems out there that I'll sing my lungs out to when I'm cruising Like um.

Speaker 1:

He's looking at his phone right now.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I have my it's. You're good, you're good Everywhere man Like it goes from country rap.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

And just reggae to just I don't know Like I feel music in a different way, like music speaks to me, so like I don't know.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, some days it's funny man.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, what about? What about you Give me an idea?

Speaker 1:

Number one song yeah, dude, number one on my playlist. It depends on the playlist, but it I man. I'm a metalhead, I rock and roll.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but uh, my number one, I've I really, really, really been enjoying Stapleton, dude Stapleton.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, stapleton.

Speaker 1:

Just because man you know seeing him live, a lot of people say he's boring dude. But the way he wails, the way he puts the music and the guitar.

Speaker 2:

It's hard to gather, bro, yeah. It's just like God there's nothing like it these days, yeah.

Speaker 1:

But uh, stapleton. But you know, like when I, when I head out on the trail, it's Chevelle dude.

Speaker 2:

Chevelle, chevelle, non-stop man.

Speaker 1:

Non-stop. I'll just listen to the Chevelle all day. I grew up. I remember they opened for vanilla ice when vanilla ice went hard.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean, that's the old idea. Yeah yeah, no, no, no, yeah, they started out.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, they started out with, uh, with him, and I'm like dude, who are these three brothers? I'm like my cousin, I believe, and and um, like, ever since then. Man just can't get enough of it. And the latest album that they had just flows on the trail. When, when you're out in the wilderness, dude, just getting a good workout in. So, uh, chevelle's always been there. But uh, yeah, man, that, that, that that's mine and uh, dude, so with the, the layers.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, let's go back.

Speaker 1:

Did, we, did, we get them all yeah.

Speaker 2:

We could go for hours, man, I'm pretty sure we can, I mean, this.

Speaker 1:

This could be a part two and a part three.

Speaker 2:

Hey, man, like whatever, no, like, uh it it's, we're getting there, but there's a lot to it, man.

Speaker 1:

What else is there?

Speaker 2:

I don't know Like it, just like that's what I'm like. I was thinking about all this and I was just like man, like where do I start?

Speaker 1:

Where do I you?

Speaker 2:

know what? What do I say when he says who's Johnny C Cause? That's, yeah, it's, it's everywhere.

Speaker 1:

Now where you came from is the biggest part of your life.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

The Walla Walla Scottish Nez Pierce.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

What's, what's the? If you don't mind me asking what's the Scottish, what's that?

Speaker 2:

Scottish. That's my grandma, okay, my dad's mom, okay, straight Scottish, okay. So you get that from. That's my bloodline, from my dad's side, uh, where McDonald's from?

Speaker 1:

Okay, scotland Okay.

Speaker 2:

So straight straight from over that way. So yeah, so that's where that comes from. Scottish side, my dad, um, is the current chief of the Walla Walla tribe, and so that's where that bloodline comes in, right there.

Speaker 1:

Nez.

Speaker 2:

Pierce is my mom's side from Idaho.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

So that's where those, those are my three, that's my bloodline right there and that's my heritage.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. You know, and that has to be the main layer.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, Um, in a sense, yeah, I mean it's, yeah, it's my identity, you know, and it's something I take great pride in and hold myself to those standards of who I come from and where I come from you know, you can see that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and I'm not the only one who's. You know who?

Speaker 2:

is Johnny C.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, uh, but people are afraid. People, I wouldn't say afraid, but people don't mention that that much.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and I that because this new age, you know it's different.

Speaker 1:

You either live by it, yeah, or it just fades away. But then you know, mom and pops, they'll get on and be like hey, don't forget where you came from. Remember where you came from? No, that's my dad instilled that in me.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and I said hey, don't ever forget who you are and where you came from and when you go places, know who you are and know where you came from.

Speaker 1:

So, and I don't see anything different, though, man, I don't see anything different. I think you carry yourself, you know, through that and whatnot, with all these other layers.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, there's layers and layers, man, it's onions, apples, whatever.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so, so. Johnny dude, who the hell are you man?

Speaker 2:

Let it flow like no way. Man, yeah, a guy who has love. I'm a guy who enjoys every aspect of life. I am a person who has been fortunate to do quite a lot of things in life that aren't ordinary. You know, from everyday life to, like, you know, yes, whatever I've been fortunate enough in this life to do things. Most people have it, you know, and that's I embrace that and I try to like kind of brush that off with the my, the people I surround myself with. You know, a guy who spreads, is all about positive positivity, good vibes, aloha vibes spread, aloha always, and just has a lust for life. You know, because, like I said, this life is short and I just want to. I don't want to be on my last day being like man I wish I could have done this wish I would have been here, could have, would have, should have.

Speaker 2:

I've never lived my life like that. If I'm going to, I'm going to. If I want to make it happen, that's what's going to happen. Yeah, I'm a go getter and I just have a love for life and being positive and making the most out of every situation and opportunity and just live. I don't. I live life day to day because if you plan, you can plan so much, but you know life happens. Yeah, you can't always can on those plans, so I just kind of go day to day and if you know something springs up, I'm gonna go do it like or I'm gonna be here.

Speaker 2:

You know, I just I'm one of those guys. I just love life and I love facing fears and finding new challenges and just having a good support system and good group of people around me and I love to spread positivity and you know I want the best for everybody. Yeah, you know, in any situation.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and like I said, man, you've helped me out recently. Yeah just that positivity and just like well you know, you know my wife, she doesn't know half these people and putting on, you know, like how big Sterling Drake is or you know some up and coming guys. You know I try to tell her about Tyler and the train robbers.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm like that's the number one reason why I went yeah, and those boys blew it out of the water and I didn't know they were from Helix. Yeah, yeah, so it's like come on man, these guys are good.

Speaker 1:

Yeah they're good, they're bringing back the old.

Speaker 2:

you know, chugga, chugga, you know that kind of thing, and that's what I love yeah.

Speaker 1:

And so, no man, I don't know, man, it seems, with all these layers, dude, you're this one person that's underneath it all, or over the whole, you know yeah the whole onion. Yeah, Just fine, loving person who brings the best out of himself and others dude.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and that's. That's what I want to be. You know if I want to hold myself to the best standards, but I love if I can help other people bring out the best themselves, you know, to reach that potential that they don't think they have or possess. I like to show them that you know they're capable of having that, you know.

Speaker 1:

Well for being 30 years old man. You got a great head on your shoulders. You're well centered. You know the sky is the limit right now, dude especially with these things coming up we won't talk about. But you know, seeing you smile from ear to ear, dude, it says it all. You know you come from humble beginnings and I believe you're going to still, you know, maintain that and, like dad said, don't forget where he came from. But, dude, you know, I'm thankful that you came here man, no man.

Speaker 2:

I'm thankful you had me as a guest. I'm surprised you came.

Speaker 1:

I'm always surprised when people come to the T-Con studio and just want to be a guest for real because you know it's like who's who's? Nick you know, but you know you took a chance and I appreciate it. I'm always grateful for you guys, you know, and also a huge fan I'll continue to be a fan of Johnny C and figure out all these layers.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

We don't have that much time to talk about this.

Speaker 2:

I know it's only getting started too, man, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

So I would like four, because I'm going to be doing this until I get really, really tired of it, and I think I'm on 190. I'm sitting on four or five more, you know and a year from now. I want to have you back on dude.

Speaker 2:

All right, yeah, yeah, let's, let's plan for it all again.

Speaker 1:

So I know there's more layers.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

We can go on and on because, dude, you're, you're a great person and great conversationalist. Dude, you want to add anything? Did I forget anything?

Speaker 2:

I can't think of anything that you know. I mean, like I said, if I tried to do that, we'd probably say for another 34,.

Speaker 1:

You know, but I, I know you're, you're traveling, buddy, it won't like that, but yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

No, yeah, Don't know. Man. Let's like, let's see what, let's just see what happens from here. And we'll come back here now We'll talk about hey, remember when we were talking about this?

Speaker 1:

and that you know Okay.

Speaker 2:

And I see what the future holds because it's looking. It's bright, pretty bright right now.

Speaker 1:

I can't. I can't lie, man, but the future's so bright, you got to wear shades, shades.

Speaker 2:

Always Inside In the teacup teacup studios, I'm wearing shades. I'm always that. That's what you know. I don't know the future's so bright yeah.

Speaker 1:

Got to wear shades. Yeah, the horse heaven roundup.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, tonight, go and check it out Tonight. Who you?

Speaker 1:

looking forward to seeing man.

Speaker 2:

But Clayton Sellers, clayton Sellers, okay, a stud, right?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna go barrel racer. I told her I'm gonna go see her calling Kingsbury.

Speaker 2:

Okay yeah, I had her on, oh yeah, and so I was like hey.

Speaker 1:

I'm just gonna be there cheering you on.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Barrel racing is one of a kind man I.

Speaker 2:

you know, those are my only two, I hate to say it, only two ones I love to watch.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Barrel racing and bulls.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

And I'll stay getting there right next to each other at the end of the night. And breakaway man, oh, breakaway Some of those girls. Oh, there's this one girl, cali.

Speaker 1:

Look at her.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, her life's hard to say, but I got you yeah, but it's just amazing man. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Because if you look outside of the eight seconds, right, and then you got like guys like Dalton Massey and Jesse Brown, you know turning a calf over a four or 500 pound calf right, Flipping it over on his bag like it's nothing, in less than four seconds it's like, dude, are you kidding me? Yeah, Then you got. You know the breakaway ropeers yeah, they, they, uh, 2.9, 3.9. It's like are you kidding?

Speaker 2:

me. Yeah, it's quick draw man, it's like the fastest sport in the world.

Speaker 1:

And it's just dude it's just crazy just to sit there and watch and you know, since breakaway is broken away, it's like man, those girls are bad.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they're some handy girls, man. Yeah, and that's what I like about it too, I'm like, oh, like.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's fun.

Speaker 2:

No, yeah, it's definitely fun. So, yeah, I'll be there checking it out. Clayton Sellers. Clayton.

Speaker 1:

Sellers.

Speaker 2:

He's a stud, he's a hand, so he's one of my favorites to watch, okay, and the PRCA and with the PBR teams and you know he's kind of gotten into the PBR more, so so, yeah, yeah, definitely going to check him out and then Team to beat this year in the series it's always uh, that was it, it's Texas Radlers. Yeah, yeah, that's them. I also like the Carolina Cowboys.

Speaker 1:

Because they put all their money in the draft.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, carolina Cowboys, though, shout out to Dawson Bratton. He's on that squad now and he's out of oh yeah.

Speaker 1:

You know he was supposed to be on, right. Yeah, he was supposed to be on and we had a reschedule on yeah. I heard you have to like really, really twist his arm, man, because he's not much of a talker. Yeah, no.

Speaker 2:

He's not much of a talker, but he's cute. Yeah, he's funny His actions speak louder than his words.

Speaker 1:

And man, he's a baller on the bulls.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, yeah, yeah. But Carolina Cowboys they got some legends on that squad. Yeah, I'll probably Texas, but I'm probably going to go with the Carolina Cowboys this year, just because the talent on that is unreal. So come on, man Sage, yeah, come on.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. And then Josh, who can do pretty much anything Anything, yeah, I mean he walks into the building One.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.

Speaker 1:

It's like you know he can go from Challenger series to. You know, unleash the beast. Yeah, like, yeah, come on, man hey you know, leave it to the little guy.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, to the guys up and coming guys, yeah, no.

Speaker 1:

But no man, you know, one day I hope you do get back on the bull, and when you do, I wish I'm there, dude. So if you, big or small, whatever, cct, if and when you have that, that moment that you're going to get back, let me know, man, I was supposed to be on this weekend here no, actually, at the Oregon State Fair at the Hell on Herbs for now. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but I said I'd be here so please, please, let me know, please, let us know. With all those layers, man, you take care of yourself and forever. I'm pretty sure you're going to gain some fans off of this one that want to know who Johnny C is. They're going to be like dude who is this guy?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so question Do I post more? Do you think? Do you think I need to post more as far as the social media, social media Dude All right, the more I get involved.

Speaker 1:

I'm 41. That's for you to ask, yeah.

Speaker 2:

All right.

Speaker 1:

Instagram right now is the hottest thing. Yeah, and what you're doing right now is working for you. Yeah, I'm the guy, I'm the believer. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Speaker 2:

Keep doing what you're doing it seems like it's working.

Speaker 1:

You got people hollering at you, you know, and just seeing you smile. It's a whole other idea, because I know your mind is like dude, I can get bigger, I can be bigger. Yeah, in the realm of things, you're big already, dude, yeah, you're big. I appreciate that and you got. You got what it takes to be bigger. You got the personality, you got the mindset. I mean you're 30. You're freaking, rocking it now. Yeah, thanks, man, keep rocking it, oh is this a sign?

Speaker 2:

It's a sign. It's a sign Cut yeah.

Speaker 1:

You say hello, lilian, hello. Even my tongue is a list. Oh yeah, okay, all right, all right.

Speaker 2:

So Johnny C yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, she used to be on a lot. Yeah, but normally now when she's had enough being alone downstairs, she'll come up here and be like let's see what dad's doing.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. So she's like what is dad doing? Yeah, yeah, awesome.

Speaker 1:

Johnny C, do what you need to do. I think you know what avenue you're gonna take. Yeah, and I'm here every step of the way, dude, hey man, I'm there for you too, like I have been, and thank you for your support.

Speaker 1:

You're gonna have some ultra runners. Be like who is Johnny C?

Speaker 2:

I know I might have to get in there and do a couple runs or climb some mountains or something Like. I see all that and that's cool.

Speaker 1:

Whenever you go to Joseph on, like a summer or spring, or whenever the snow is gone, hit me up. We'll hit the mountains up there. Let's do it. Have you done it?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, Okay, yeah, let's do it. We, yeah, we've done yeah we've done like a 11 mile hike. I did that once or no. We've done it a couple of times, but it's like every annually, you know. But I kind of want to get in there and go more and like camp out and let's you know, let's do it yeah. No, I swear like. I'm ready to do it? Yeah, like. I've been wanting to. I just got to find someone who wants to do it.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, man, I'll bring my entourage.

Speaker 2:

Speaker 1:

Yeah yeah, dan, the man Dude, you got to meet him. Hopefully you see him today. Yeah yeah, he's out there. That kid that I've been posting about, jack, he sold the pig and turned out to be, at the end of the day, $14 a pound on that pig, and that pig is $276. Oh man.
